Roman Day at School

The 3rd grade has been studying Rome and today is the finale.  This toga is a king sized pillowcase that I altered and lined in the top front.  It took ten minutes!  The accessories are from party city and the rope is upholstery cording that we spray painted.  It is 35 degrees today but she would not wear a shirt underneath (she has a coat.)  There are some jeans under there. ;)

Snow Day!

Thousands of kids in the Lowcountry were disappointed when they woke up for our snow day, mine were no exception.  I was thankful though that with 2 and a half days out of school that we at least had power.  Last time it snowed in 2010 we lost power for 2 days.

Catching snowflakes, I promise they were there! For about 30 minutes.

Creative icicles were their favorite parts of the day.

You can see a few snow flakes on her dark jacket, that's as good as it got!

Merry Christmas from The Wright Girls

All my fancy bows and I didn't realize Kane's stick on bow in the picture.  :)

Of course the best pj shot has Abby's monkey in it...:)

Mia needed a Christmas frock too!

Kid fun

In the school assembly last week all the classes took turns doing the tango.  Abby was soooo excited.  She talked about it all week and practiced at home. She picked out a special dress and had me iron it and also wanted her hair flat ironed.  She did a wonderful job and so did her cute partner. :)
Reese went to her first slumber party last week.  She was apparently the last one up, at 4am!!!! She laid all day in her bad watching Netflix on a tablet until it died.  She insisted she didn't want to sleep and next thing I knew she was out on the couch at about 2:30 pm.  She slept right through all the activities of the house.  I'd say that was one fun party!

Smocking Guild Christmas Fashion Show

Smocking plate is Ho HO Flamingo by Frances Jones.  Dress I adapted from a basic peasant dress pattern.
Stella by Children's Corner.  I added the ruffle and bubble sleeves and omitted the placket in the back for a keyhole opening.

Lego Play Mat, New Class

I have seen similar things all over pinterest and have wanted to make one for quite some time.  Here is my own version and I added a zipper pouch to the front for small pieces.

You play on the inside and draw it up when its time to go or clean up!
