Party at the Park

Friday, we went to Hughston's 3rd birthday party at our favorite park. It was a BEAUTIFUL day, clear and 75 degrees. The perfect play day. We played with friends, ate hot dogs with daddy and topped it off with a super yummy Rocket (Little Einsteins) cake made by our very own Nana. Sometimes cakes look better than they get one or the other. But not with Meredith...they taste even better than they look. She is just that good!
On a side note, sorry that I have been MIA and such a comment slacker. It's tax time and I have been doing so much bookwork that I don't even feel like a stay at home mom any more! Some days I work more than I even get to play with them...bummer. I hope that changes in the near future. I, so, would trade my days as a stay at home wife to be able to just hang with them some more. I had it so good then, I thought it would always be that way. I really need to stop whining and praise the Lord for the amazing things He has done with our business. Is more money worth less time with my babies? Of course not, but (there's always a but) at this point, I'm the best man for the job...or at least the cheapest! ;)

Film Review Friday

It was date night, and we went once again to the movies...after some delish swordfish over roasted artichoke hearts I might add! We went to see "Drillbit Taylor," with Owen Wilson. I have two words for you, in response... "skip" and "it." I must admit that a few times I laughed so hard, I choked on my candy. But, for the most part, it was kinda boring.

Hoppy Easter!!!

Saturday, the girls and I went to the church Easter hunt. It was at our brand new facility which is awesome. We had a great time and they ate way too much candy, got their faces painted and went home with balloons. We even did some more hunting when we got home because the weather was just too beautiful to stay inside. Sunday. we went to Dena's for lunch and some MORE huntin'! Grannie Nannie was cookin', which is hard to were seconds! We had such a blessed holiday weekend, I can't wait to put away all those plastic eggs! They are EVERYWHERE! And, apparently, I did not learn my lesson at Christmas. All the junk I got barely fit in the baskets. They sure don't need all of it, I hope I remember that next year!

Film Review Friday

Last night we went to see 10,000 BC. Let me start by saying, I had no interest in seeing this but there was nothing else to see and Kane wanted to see it. Also, I didn't want to go home before the girls were in bed! That is always so stressful and disappointing. So, we went anyway.

I really enjoyed it! It was filled with action (for the boys,) and had a little romance too (for the ladies.) What it didn't have was vulgarity or nudity, which is a plus in today's society and film industry. It did have a pagan undertone, which is appropriate with the setting. I know some are really offended by that, so I though I would let you know. Kane thought it was a little long, at two hours, but I didn't think that at all. We really enjoyed it, a great date night choice.

Easter Dinner

Abby has always been a destructive child. Left unattended, she will tear, chew or take apart anything in her path. Lift the flap books are left flapless and google eyed hot pink frog shoes no longer google. Yesterday I sent Abby to school wearing her Easter no-slippy hair clippie. It was special ordered from my favorite store...I have connections you know! When she left it looked like this...But it came home like this...

She ate it...$8 down the hatch!

A Huntin' We Will Go!

Today was the annual Easter egg hunt that we LOVE to go to! Abby had the BEST time huntin, as she would say. When it was time to go, she got a running start! She really know the deal...she got more eggs than I cared to bring home! Reeser didn't quite get it this year. After she got her first egg, she didn't want to continue until she had eaten the candy in it! So her basket was kind of slim, but that's ok....Abby had plenty to share.

They had a bunny come for pictures which, of course, Abby was terrified of. After I convinced her to loosen the death grip around my neck and waist, she hid out on the front porch. I went to check on her...and she was gone. I was in a panic, until I noticed the front door was ajar! She had let herself in William's Mimi's gorgeous and fancy house!!!I panicked and went in myself. I called for her and I heard a tiny "I'm in da potty!" It came from UPSTAIRS! Oh no, I thought. I went to find her wiping, after she used the training potty in Mimi's upstairs bathroom. At least I found her so that I could clean it out! I am so glad she didn't break anything or get hurt! Now, I just think it's so funny. I love my Abby, what a character she is! I soooo hope Daddy can make it next year, to help me watch them younguns! After that, I made her stay outside and she hid in the bushes with her friend Camp until the bunny left...what a big day!

Two-fer Tuesday

Abby: 1) She has been sleeping great for naptime and bed time for a few weeks! We are on a good run right now. Since the time change she has been sleeping til 9! It's great on some days, but has made it hard to get to school on time. She is super cranky if you wake her up when she's not ready.
2.) She has been trying new foods lately and eating more. Just this week she ate chicken tetrizini and taco pie. I did have to feed them to her, but it's a start!

Reese: 1.) Has really been beating up on Abby lately! Pushing and a little hitting. It is really funny to me because Abby never did either...but no one was taking her stuff either!
2.) Really loves baby dolls right now, that is really cute. Abby never liked them that much, except taking their clothes off!

Mommy: 1.) My diet and excercize routine has been pretty non-existant! I really need to jump back on the wagon, but it's just so hard.
2.) I just finished the girl's Easter dresses, finally! Now I need another project. I have too many to choose from though. I have many I never started last Spring and Fall too. I have really high hope but not that much spare time.

Party time!

We had a busy weekend, as always. I went to a baby shower and an oyster roast. I had way too much fun, and ate way too much party food! I made the conclusion that I always do after an evening with my friends!...I have the BEST friends! I just love them! And aren't they so pretty?!

Film Review Friday

I have been thinking of doing this for a while now. Thursday night is our date night, and it has been for almost 8 years. I can count on one hand the number of times we have missed it. So on many Thursday nights, we go to the movies. I love movies and we just can't bare to get home before the girls go to bed. It wakes them up and prolongs the whole evening.

Last night was the first time in my entire life that I walked out of a movie, and sadly I have seen some whoppers. We sat down in "The Bank Job" and immediately we noticed that all of the previews were for horror flicks. Usually, that's a bad sign if the previews are crappy. After the opening scene contained nudity, I wondered...but I thought I would give it the benefit of the doubt with ten minutes. During that ten minutes, there were two more nudity filled scenes! Seriously! So, we got up and left. We were going to change our tickets but instead just went in a different theatre...aren't we rebels!

So, the movie we ended up seeing was "Vantage Point." It's a political whodunit, so to speak, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It wasn't predictable in the least, which I found intriguing. As a movie buff, and tv-aholic, I often can guess the ending. It was a nice change. I highly recommend it. And as for "The Bank Job," don't let your curiosity get the best of you. Avoid it at all costs!

Everything must match

Well, not everything, but it's coming pretty close these days. Today I finally got Reese a big girl car seat. I have been meaning to since she was 9 months old but it never seemed to be in the budget. We used Granny's for a while, a long while actually. Granny finally bought her own seat again! Then Reese had an accident in it. While it was being cleaned, we used an old used one that I got secondhand for $7. Eventually I lost one of the straps to the one being cleaned and we kept using the old one. So, finally, now that she's nearing 19 months, she finally has a good one too. I think I might give the new one to Abby actually. Reese still has a few years of messiness that would ruin this nice one....actually she threw up in the other one just last week!

Big Bunny Fun

Today we went to have our annual bunny pics in the park. This is the third year we have done it, hopefully this week I can scan some of our past pics for you to see. There was a new bunny this year, a brown baby bunny that they got just a few days ago. Sadly, Einstein the bunny passed this week. It was chilly, but sunny. I wouldn't say it was fun, but I think we got some good ones. Abby was shy and crabby and Reese wanted to be everywhere except where we wanted her to be. Forget a shot together! I can't wait to see the proofs. Here are some that I got with my camera.

From the lips of Children

Reese is talking sooo much more than Abby ever did(...we may be in trouble there!) so I thought I would list a few...

Mama, Dada, Bailey and Abby. Bailey sounds like baby and Abby sounds like Abba
Sucker, cookie and cracker all sounds alike
Nana, for banana
Poo poo, this means she wants a new diaper, could be just that she tee teed and wants you to know!
Dora, backpack and map
No and Uh-uh
Bubba, this is what she calls her pillow or hippo which are her lovies
Thank you
All done
She has a sign for please

I think that Abby was slower to talk because she knew a lot of signs, like 30. With the second child who has time!!!

Big Mickey fun!

This weekend Abby and I took a roadtrip with some friends to see Playhouse Disney Live. I will admit that it was stressful getting there, turning around and getting lost among the debaucles, but once Abby and I were sitting in our seats with our friends we had a great time. Abby loved doing the hotdog dance with Mickey and the gang...and I might have joined in too! We could not leave without our Little Einstein light stick ($22!) and cotton candy in a Handy Manny hat ($12!) It turned out to be a pricey little trip, even though the tickets were only $20. We stayed overnight with some friends and had a slumber party, it was so much fun. We stayed up until 10:30 watching Noggin...I always wondered why it was on 24 hrs a day! We got up and had belgium waffles and then went swimming in the indoor pool! As long as we were there, we decided to visit the zoo. It was a beautiful day, 70 degrees. Abby and I had the best time with our friends and then by ourselves later. It was like a date, no distractions. I hope to do that more often. On the way home Abby and I had a late lunch at Uno's, yum! We even had dessert. What a weekend, I am glad to be home.
