Reeser and the Ants

We recently went to the allergist to research the severity of Reese's allergy to fire ants after our emergency room visit. She is actually allergic, so they say. There is a treatment to lessen her reactions in the future. It is quite expensive and would involve weekly injections for six months and then monthly for possibly years after that. We haven't decided yet but tonight she got bit by a few at a friend's house and didn't have a severe reaction. Last time it was more than 30 and even though it was over a month ago many of the bites are still there. So even though it wasn't many, the reaction was promising. We are still deciding on the treatment but I feel like I can breath a little easier.

Yesterday, we were inside all day because it was just too hot to play outside. It looked like it was going to rain so we ran outside to play really quick...a little too late. So they stripped down and played in the rain! It was actually really fun, great summer boredom cure.
Check out the new digs from Pink Crocodile! Dena just couldn't resist...and I LOVE it!

House Guests!

Mac came for a visit, and those princesses just HAD to dance!

My friend Sugar had the newest member of the Jeffcoat Jungle this past week. A girl, finally, after three boys. Two of the oldest boys have come to stay with us for a few days to give mama some rest. We are having the best time! They went to bed like a dream and have been playing up a storm. There have been a few tears as they got used to playing with girls again...it's good practice for Olivia! I have gotten sooooo much done, I am so surprised. I have done laundry, dishes, cooking, more laundry, cleaned out the junk drawer and bucket, quiet time, exercise video and now blogging! I even made the bed. So much happens when you have an excuse to stay home! We are usually gone all day and when it's finally naptime there is so much to do that nothing gets done. We are having so much fun! Rest up mama! Only two days left!

Film Review Friday

We went to see the Dark Knight last night, it's the new batman movie. First of all, it is not a family movie...please don't take your little ones to see this! I had to look away from several parts and I am a seasoned action film viewer. Secondly, I really liked it! Heath Ledger was great as I expected as were the rest of the cast. I do recommend this film if you like an action flick, but beware...it is long and the body count is high. (FYI, last week we saw Hellboy II. I enjoyed it because I liked the first one and I LOVE Selma Blair. There are plenty of freaky monsters in this one though. There will definately be a 3rd one too, in case you're wondering!)

Toooooooo Fast!

This is Reese last year on her birthday, which is in one month exactly!Look at her now! She's wearing my spin shoes. I can't believe how big she is getting, so much more mature than Abby was at her age. I guess Abby keeps her on her toes and all the movies they watch has really given her a big vocabulary I guess. The other day she pointed at Cinderella and said " Wella?" And she calls Snow White, "white." I think she will pass Abby in size before long. They wear the same size shoe and Abby wears a 4 while Reese wears a 2 or 3. She was off the charts in height the other day at her check up. I am definately going to be looking up at her someday!

Bailey's Got a Brand New 'Do!

So, even though he craps on the floor...a LOT, Bailey has always been pretty cute!

Unless he is dirty and needs to be brushed. I always forget to make his groomer appointment which is every two weeks. He was so pampered before the girls. Now he is always dirty and knotty. So I had his hair did!

Ta-Da! It's kind of fun! I might have them cut his tail next time too, though. I'm not sure why they left it!

From the Lips

A while back, Abby brought home a cute questionaire from church. I have been saving it all this time. It says Psalm 139:14 "I am wonderfully made." In the center is the fun part...

My favorite thing to do is swim.
My favorite place to go is eat.
My favorite food is bugs.
When I am big, I want to be a mommy.

That was so simple but so much fun for me! I have to explain the bug thing. It's from a book we read. It says "But mama, but mama! What if I were a green alien from mars and ate bugs instead of peanut butter...would you still love me then?" It was her favorite for a while.

Busy, again...

Pre-Ant Attack, chillin' and havin' a blast.
Sewin'...isn't this cute! I wish I had finished it earlier. The Summer is almost over and to be truthful, this is from my sewing stack last year!
Playdates, we have been having so much fun. Especially with Cole, I haven't seen her laugh like that in a while.
Kane taught Dena the X-BOX! Buffie and I were working on a sewing project and they were bored...I think she's hooked between you and me!

Also I have been going to the gym a lot, I am loving it. If I could just stop eating so I could see quicker results!

Watching movies! I saw Love Guru and the Kung Fu Panda this week and last week we saw Hancock. I really liked Hancock a lot, Panda was okay and you can totally skip the Love Guru!

Hugs to you all, hope you're having as much fun as we are!

Our first ER visit

Our day at the lake started off well enough but just after lunch it went downhill from that when Reese stood on an ant hill. She started screaming and I threw her in the pool to get them off but consequently that is not the best way to do that because those suckers hold on and bite more! She started getting big whelps on her feet and I gave her a half a benedryl. But then she started getting hives everywhere so I gave her the rest and a cool bath. When she started looking really rough and one eye swelled almost shut, everyone insisted we go to the hospital. Buffie and Chris K. ushered us in the car found the hospital, which was 30 minutes away, and took care of everything. We've never had an emergency before so I was pretty much useless and Kane wasn't with us. The ER went okay, they took us pretty quickly and we had our own room, of which there were not many. She got two steroid shots, benedryl and oral steroids too. We ended up being there for three hours so they could monitor her progress and make sure her breathing was okay. She was a trooper and were Buffie and Chris who hung out in the waiting room all day instead of having fun with their families at the lake. I am so thankful for them and I was so impressed by Chris' take charge-ness...AND his lead foot! We got there quickly. Her bites are ichy and festering now and I am trying to give her the oral steroid twice a day but not much gets in...it is beyond yucky. We are headed to the Dr. today to discuss an epi pen or what to do next time. I also hope to sneak in our 18 month appointment while we are there, I am always late on those and it take months to get an appointment!

Happy 4th!

We went to Mimi's pool today for some fun in the sun! The Jones came with us and we made a day of it! From 10am until sundown we were in our suits! It was a great day, just a little cloudy which cooled it off perfectly. The kids had a great time, they are great friends and play really well together. Abby said that she and Mac were going to be a mommy and daddy, which is so cute. There's more weekend fun to be had when we head to the lake tomorrow!

Christmas in July

Those close to us know that everyday is Christmas in our household! Our girls want for nothing. But today it really was Christmas in July. Abby and I opened a present that never got opened at Christmas time. Frankly, I wasn't excited about all the tiny pieces of this train set (Thanks Granny!) and I thought about returning it. It never made it back to the store so, finally I put it all together today. It took almost an hour and my hands are tired from tiny screws in the battery compartments but Abby LOVES it. She said "Mama, this is so cool." several times and it has her full attention. That's how I am blogging! Hooray for Geo Trax.
On a separate note, Abby had to go potty this morning. I went to put her new princess potty seat on the potty. She said no mama, I don't like that. I said why? She said "because it's not new anymore." How funny is that? American materialism demonstrated in the innocence of a child!
