Summer Sewing

I have been so busy with work lately that I haven't had much time to sew new stuff.  Also I am less motivated because the girls really can't even wear all of the clothes they already have.  They only got taller this year so they didn't grown out of many things.  They just got a little shorter!
I put the helicopters on this store bought short all for a friend last week.  I think it turned out cute!
I am still cranking away at a huge pile of t shirts for a friend's twins.  I only have 2 more!

Here is my Sewing 101 class from last week.  In the last session we made these spa wraps.  They were a great group and I had so much fun!  I really like teaching, I am teaching about one class per month.  In July I am teaching the Holly and Hunter pattern by Bonnie Blue and at the end of August I have a new session of Sewing 101.  I am having trouble deciding what classes to teach! There are so many possibilities.  I chose the Holly and Hunter because this last class were interested in making Short Alls for boys.
This is something I have been slowly working on for the girls.  It seems I am distracted or out of practice because I have used my seam ripper more than my sewing machine!

Some finished projects

Here is a top I made months ago, I believe I taught the class in March?  I made pants to match for a store sample and then I made another one from scraps before the class just to refresh my memory of the construction because it has a side zipper and the instructions are kind of vague.
They finally wore them this Sunday for Father's Day.  They were very cute, and I found it amusing that the put them on opposite directions.  The front and back are the same so there isn't a true front.  Reese's pants I made from a pattern traced of a favorite pair of pants a friend had maybe 3 years ago.  They are a size 6 and I decides to give them a try.  I love them! They have a cute little flare.
Here they are up a little closer and with their precious cousin.
This is a Target t shirt that I appliqued to go with these Kelly's Kids shorts that I got on clearance at the online hostess sale.  I only got one pair because, while they can wear the same size I am just really tired of buying 2 of everything! They often don't wear them on the same day anyway.

This is a seatbelt pillow that I saw on pinterest and I knew Reese had to have one! I velcros right onto the belt.  It was on etsy if you are not crafty yourself.  She love it and of course, Abby wants on also so I am going to make her one as well.  I added a pocket to the front with her monogram which I liked.  The dimensions are 22" by 7" but when I make Abby's I am going to make it 26x7 I think to that it goes all the way to her hip.

Weekend Fun

These are some of the shirts I did this week.  I want to wipe out my to do pile so that I can sew some fun stuff!!!

We could not have had a better time at the beach this weekend.  I don't want this cool weather to end! It has been in the 80's for a while now with the crazy amounts of rain that we have had.  I have never spent as much time outside as I have recently....unless I am in the pool. :)
We had dinner at the marina last night.  I normally don't allow my girls to get up from the table at a restaurant but it was a great setting for it.  We had too much fun!

Summer Destination...

If we are not at home...

THIS is where we are!  Mimi and Papa's pool is just a few blocks away and it is like visiting a resort...minus the waiters. ;)

First Fruits

I finally picked something! I can't wait to eat all of it. The bell pepper is a yellow one so I picked it for a test to see if it turns yellow. I have tons more that might be ready this week. I better start cooking! I have been printing cucumber recipes all morning.

It's going to be a SPICY Summer!!!

I can't wait for these to turn red!
These are my 5 cucumber plants. I planted my garden on the ugly side of my house. It faces the ugly side of another house so we don't do anything besides have the yard dudes cut the grass. It hasn't seen pine straw since we moved in! It might soon though because now that I look at it every day it is driving me nuts.

The girls loved the curved, wonky cuke. Reese picked it up and said "Hello?" They are funny kids. :)
