Birthday, take 1

This year we decided to skip the big party and take that trip to Atlanta last month.  Also I will be going on my sewing retreat (YAY!!!) on Reese's actual birthday, which is a school night.  So, we had the family birthday celebration on Sunday.  Her American Girl doll help make cupcakes. :) She still will not name or maybe just tell me the name of this doll.  We call her American Girl doll. :)
Coloring time with her cousin Ansley, who is almost 2.
Present time! It was an American Girl birthday for sure! Complete with a new McKenna doll.

I need to get a full view of this crazy birthday outfit that she had to have from a boutique.  I will do that tomorrow...on Birthday take TWO!

Home Decor Pillow Class...coming soon!

Next month I am teaching a pillow making class with custom cording and a hidden zipper at Sew n Sew in Summerville.  This is my sample that I made, I wish I got a picture of the zipper.  It turned out pretty cool, my friend Kelly showed me how to do it in the back instead of the bottom and it has a flap to cover it.  That is grosgrain around the applique.

First Day of School!

Thursday was the first day of school, I can't believe I have a 2nd grader! How did that happen?  And she is wearing a smocked bishop! We went shoe shopping on Wednesday and she saw it and said she wanted to wear it the first day of school.  I am sure it will be the last one I ever get to buy because Reese won't wear them at all.  She snickered at Abby for wanting it at all.  She is such a little punk sometimes...anyways, Abby promised she would wear it so I bought it!  If I had know she would want one I could have made one and saved myself a lot of money! Although a size 8 bishop would take tons of fabric and soooooo long to smock!

They did very well at school and came home very happy.  Reese has the same teacher that Abby had last year and she came home in love with her.  I just hope she can handle that spicy little girl!  Abby was a little shy went we got to the door but at the end of the day she was super excited and happy.  I hope she will stay that way.

We are obsessed with the silly face now.  Every occasion requires one.
When I sent the girls to get the camera out of the car, they apparently had their own first day photo shoot. ;)

A field trip

I took the girls to Atlanta a few weeks ago with some friends to visit the American Girl store.  We had so much fun!

We did some shopping, check out the eye wear!

And dining with our dolls...

and the Lego store! The girls love building some custom Lego people.  Those kits never have enough people!

We also went to the aquarium while we were there.  It was so cool!  It is nothing like the one we have here, the girl loved it.  There are even a live dolphin show like at Sea World!

There was an enormous indoor playground.  This is a 2 story whale slide, you come out of the mouth!
Dolphins
Beluga whales, you could see them swimming and playing while we ate lunch.
