Seersucker Clutch: Take Two

In order to have a class for this I needed to make a sample with fabrics currently in the shop.  My first try was with scraps in my stash.  I love the lining on this one.  I want to make something for the girls out of this.  Super cute.  I made this bag for my sister, I couldn't see any reason why I needed two, although this one might be easier to match things.
This one gave me a little trouble, but it was helpful to perfect the directions.  I might make one more for practice....but not out of seersucker! Or maybe this would make a nice teacher's gift.

Seersucker Clutch

I saw something similar to this on facebook for sale one day and was inspired!  What a great class I think this will make.  What Southern Gal doesn't need a seersucker bag?!  I plan to do my class sample in pink but this is what I had on hand when I felt like working on it.
I started with Simplicity 2166 for basic construction ideas.  I changed the flap from rectangle to triangle, added the ruffle and monogram and shortened it almost 2 inches. I think it will be much easier next time.  The toughest part was working with the really stiff stabilizer.  You need a strong machine, patience and a #90 needle for that.
The lining is from some fun scraps I had and I added pockets on the inside.  I love a surprise lining on the inside of a handbag.....really I love handbags in general.  I think this may be the first one I ever made...It may be the start of something dangerous.
Now, I just need a dress to match this. ;)

Halter Class, Take Two

I decided to try the kid size version of the Amy Butler Halter pattern that I will be teaching in class next month.  This one is a size 7(xs) and fit perfectly.  Abby was very excited to model it for me this morning before school. :)  I love this pattern.  Not including the applique, it took me an hour.

Easter 2013

We had a wonderful Easter with friends this year.  The food was amazing and the weather was fantastic.  Too much fun was had!

There was no shortage of eggs, that is for sure.  Every time there is an egg hunt it seems there is a limit of a dozen so we bought TONS of eggs.

I bought this fabric to make dresses out of LAST Easter!  It never happened.  I got one made but still have to make one for Abby, I think I might smock something....maybe a sundress. :)
